Image Darkened by Gallery Mage

Postby foxylady337 » Thu Dec 13, 2007 5:18 pm

One picture in my most recent club gallery appears grossly underexposed following processing by Gallery Mage. This image was taken on a Nikon D70 in RAW mode, edited for printing with Photoshop and stored in psd format, then converted into jpg format (2120x1492 pixels) for Gallery Mage. It appears to be exactly as printed from the psd file when converted to jpg, but both the thumbnail and the 800x563 pixel image in the export directory are darkened to the extent of being unusable.

Thanks for the bug report. Sorry for taking a while to respond.

Are you able to provide the image which has the problem? That way I can try to reproduce it here.

Are you using JAI? This information can be found if you open up the C:\Program Files\Gallery Mage\conf\gallmage.ini file, and search for the line "UseJAI=". If it says 'true', then you are using JAI.

What version of Java are you using? If you run the "Gallery Mage (debug)" option (windows only), it should tell you something like this: "Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)", just tell me that exact line.

Cheers,
Will

After checking the site for a while, I eventually worked around the problem and forgot about it.

But I now have an image from my Nikon, converted to .jpg from .nef, which does the same thing!

I decided to install JAI, and all is now well. Following this, the debug version tells me this:

Code: Select all

The reason why I didn't download JAI before was that an earlier Java upgrade broke a program I was using, and I reverted to an earlier version.

Do you still want a copy of an offending image?

Cool, great it's working.

It's fine - I don't need the file. From time to time there are issues with Java in processing images from particular sources, but these are generally fixed with Java (and JAI) updates.
