Horizontal vs. vertical images export

Postby mcandea » Thu Sep 15, 2005 7:43 pm

Hi everyone.

I've been using SPGM for a while now but only recently discovered Gallery Mage. I have to say it is a great tool for automating creation of SPGM galleries.

There's only one thing that bothers me about exporting galleries: I don't want my exported images to have same height, regardless of they're horizontal or vertical. And what it happens is that, for example, if I set output resolution to 800x600, a horizontal image will be 800x600 but a vertical one will be shrunk to 450x600 instead of 600x800.

Of course I could manually set resolution to 600x800 for each vertical image and obtain the desired effect. But maybe in export settings it would be useful to be able to set Width and Height to percent values. It does not work now for images, but it does seem to work for thumbnails!

Thanks, I hope my explanations were clear enough to describe the problem :).

hmm ok, so basically you would like your image constraints to flip if the image is flipped.

I think I can do this.

Most of the time I believe people just want to constrain their image so it looks good at a given screen resolution. I can understand the need for this though.

Give me a week or so.

Cheers,

Will.

Hi,

I have added the feature you requested. Download 2.4.6 from: http://tanksoftware.com/gallmage/

In the export.ini config file (Tools->Edit Export Options), find the "FlipDimensionsForPortrait" option and change the "false" to "true". That should do it!

If you find Gallery Mage useful, please consider making a dontaion.

Cheers,

Will.

Great stuff Will, thanks! I'll buy you beer as soon as I'm in possession of an approved credit card - i.e. a Visa :).
